The competition is focused on the education process and creating new ventures. The Competition provides a substantial learning experience for all participants from initial application, investment round, and final award round. Applicants and participants come from the Universities and Colleges in the State. Funding is used for prizes.

$29,000 for Entrepreneurial Law Clinic

Third year of a three year grant to seed an Entrepreneurial Law Clinic through the UW Law School.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON (BOTHELL)

$15,000 for Business Development Center

To seed the growth of Business Development Center. To expand the linkages with and external to university, and develop its consulting courses with community.

NORTHWEST SCHOOL FOR HEALING - IMPAIRED CHILDREN

$30,746 for annual annuity

The grant is specifically exempted from Mission and Guidelines of Foundation. It honors the request of our mentor, Herbert Jones, for the importance of education for these children, who will be in our business community one day. It further is the recognition of the entrepreneurial character of the School and its management team.

$36,000 for teacher support

Third year of a three year grant totaling $108,000 is to provide another teacher while School secures funds for the endowment to support the salary of that teaching position in the future. The School previously has met this target on a past grant for a teacher position.

PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY

$20,000 for Impact Case Competition

A three year grant for a total of $58,000 is to initiate a plan competition on campus.

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY

$30,000 for Students In Free Enterprise

Initial first year assistance in a SIFE program is to create participation in the National program. They will build a participation team, student team will learn and effect planning and competition. Further seeding of this program will be considered for next two years.

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

WHITWORTH COLLEGE

$20,000 for a Business Plan Competition

This grant was directed to Gonzaga for the effort of these Universities. This provides prize funding for their collaborative competition for the students of these schools, and perhaps others in the Spokane area and the Inland Empire. This centralization of efforts provides a significant experience for all participating students and a more efficient funding for the business community support.

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY

$30,000 for Entrepreneurship Collaboration

A joint collaboration of the students in Gonzaga’s New Venture Lab with the Spokane Community College students planning their own enterprises. This will target participation in the Inland Area Business Plan Competition. This is a three year grant.

SPOKANE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$15,000 for Entrepreneurship Collaboration

This integrates the qualities of the Gonzaga University students in the New Venture Lab with the lesser experienced student entrepreneurs in the college’s Center for Entrepreneurship. This is a three year grant.

EVERETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$35,000 for Entrepreneurship Program

This grant continues the seeding and expansion the entrepreneur classes and the business client development for assistance with their marketing plans. This is provided through the School of Business Design.

SHORELINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$38,000 for Small Business Accelerator

A two year grant to expand the consultative capacity to assist the small business community in their geographic location.

HERITAGE COLLEGE

$25,000 for student internships

Third year of a three year grant. This grant will continue to provide for internships with local businesses in this important economic area with a substantial impact for students, school, and community.

NORTHWEST ENTREPRENEUR NETWORK

$22,000 for “Entrepreneur University”

This provides financial assistance to students from our Northwest universities and colleges to attend the seminar with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, attorneys, marketing and sales experts.

STONE SOUP

$13,000 for Business Training for Rural Entrepreneurs

Provides for a free eight week business training courses for 85 rural entrepreneurs in a very rural Eastern Washington State counties where there is minimal business education options. Two year grant.

WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY

$27,000 for Campus Entrepreneur

To develop practical and experience-based entrepreneurship activities for students by developing contacts with technology-based firms and providing student projects aimed at assisting commercialization of the new technologies. Three year grant.

WASHINGTON CASH

$15,000 for Micro Enterprise Development

Washington Community Alliance for Self Help (CASH) provides the business training, supportive community, and capital to help enterprising individuals with limited financial resources gain self sufficiency through small business ownership.

ENTERPRISE FOR EQUITY

$31,100 for Low Income Entrepreneurs

Focus is on launching new entrepreneurs in business in the South Sound by providing business training, technical training, technical assistance, mentoring and support to low income people.
