A one year seeding for initiating the entrepreneurial character of students, increase assistance for past, current and future student entrepreneurs. Using workshops and presentations to stimulate aspirations and to formulate action plans. Student will present at a Symposium with top students getting awards.


UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON

$26,000 for Business Plan Competition

The competition is focused on the education process and creating new ventures. the Competition provides a substantial learning experience for all participants from initial application, investment round, and final award round. Applicants and participants come from the Universities and Colleges in the State. Funding is used for prizes. $1000 is allocated for travel assistance for teams from schools in outlying distances..

$80,000 for Milestone Awards

Through the Business Plan Competition each year an additional award will be available for Top 16 who apply for and achieve stipulated milestones which assure the reality and intent of an ongoing business. Top competition awardees will have priority to awards.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON (BOTHELL)

$15,000 for Business Development Center

To seed the growth of Business Development Center. To expand the linkages with and external to university, and develop its consulting courses with community. Final year of three year grant

$25,000 for Business Development Center Expansion

To further seed the growth of the Center a part time assistant will be secured who will coordinate further expansion of activities in this geographic economic area. First of three year grant.

$5,000 for Business Plan Competition Award

In initiating their area plan competition an award will be provided. This is the first of a three year grant.

NORTHWEST SCHOOL FOR HEALING - IMPAIRED CHILDREN

$30,746 for annual annuity

The grant is specifically exempted from Mission and Guidelines of Foundation. It honors the request of our mentor, Herbert Jones, for the importance of education for these children, who will be in our business community one day. It further is the recognition of the entrepreneurial character of the School and its management team.

PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY

$18,000 for Impact Case Competition

Final year of a three year grant for a total of $58,000 is to initiate a plan competition on campus.

SEATTLE UNIVERSITY

$10,000 for Business Plan Competition Award

Grant provides funds for the increase and extension of awards at their annual competition..

$37,000 for Students In Free Enterprise

Continuation of seeding for assistance in a SIFE program which has created participation in the national program. This is the last year of a three year grant.

$20,000 for a Business Plan Competition

This grant was directed to Gonzaga for the effort of these Universities. This provides prize funding for their collaborative competition for the students of these schools, and perhaps others in the Spokane area and the Inland Empire. This centralization of efforts provides a significant experience for all participating students and a more efficient funding for the business community support.

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY

$32,000 for Entrepreneurship Collaboration

A joint collaboration of the students in Gonzaga’s New Venture Lab with the Spokane Community College students planning their own enterprises. This will target participation in the Inland Area Business Plan Competition. This is the third year of a three year grant.

SPOKANE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$20,000 for Entrepreneurship Collaboration

T This integrates the qualities of the Gonzaga University students in the New Venture Lab with the lesser experienced student entrepreneurs in the college’s Center for Entrepreneurship. This is the third year of a three year grant.

EVERETT COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$45,000 for Entrepreneurship Program

Provides a small business accelerator program for existing business owners moving to next level, a new entrepreneur program for start up businesses and small business workshops for targeted assistance. This is a three year grant totaling $105,000

SEATTLE PACIFIC UNIVERSITY

$24,500 for Social Venture Plan Competition

A three year grants provides funds to sustain the maturity of this unique competition.

$4,500 for Social Venture Plan Competition Expansion

A three year grant to provide for expansion of competition to include other local Universities and Colleges.

WENATCHEE VALLEY COLLEGE

$35,000 for Center for Entrepreneurism

Second year of three year grant to seed and sustain an effective entrepreneurism program of education and integration with the geographic region.

NORTHWEST ENTREPRENEUR NETWORK

$20,000 for “Entrepreneur University”

This provides financial assistance to students from our Northwest universities and colleges to attend the seminar with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, attorneys, marketing and sales experts.

EASTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

$35,000 for Green Business Practices

Coordinating with the city of Spokane, the Business Resource Center will assist small business in being aware of, understanding and in how to implement “green” business practices. “Sustainable business practices lead businesses to better work environment, a healthier, more productive workforce; more customers; and an increase in the bottom line." Last year of this grant.

HIGHLINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$18,500 for StartZone

Seed the continuation and expansion of microenterprise development in Southwest King County. Providing increase business startups, one to one business consulting, and effective networking and mentors. Target population is women, immigrants, people of color, and people with disabilities. A single year grant.

GREEN RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE

$15,000 for Center for Entrepreneurship

Provides funds for a needs assessment to determine the viability, scope and services of a potential center. Valuing their present services, determining what the area lacks, services Center could provide, alone or in partnership, and potential for integrating with the college’s business education programs.
