For over 16 years, the Northwest Entrepreneur Competition has welcomed between 60-100 student teams from over 10 higher education institutions and regional high schools to compete, receive feedback, and ultimately improve their odds at entrepreneurial success.

As a collaborative, community-organized event, the NEC is managed by North Idaho College, the Spokane University District, and a large group of community judges, sponsors, and that value and support entrepreneurship in the Inland Northwest and beyond.

THE NORTHWEST ENTREPRENEUR COMPETITION SEEKS TO:

  • Provide students and their teams with constructive feedback and encouragement to proceed with building a sustainable enterprise based on their submitted business plan.

  • Be a competitive and compelling launchpad for student teams who wish to continue on the regional and national business plan circuit.

  • Create businesses that will directly benefit the Inland Northwest region through increased economic impact and employment opportunities.

2021 NORTHWEST ENTREPRENEUR COMPETITION WINNERS

The Northwest Entrepreneur Competition is proud to welcome over 11 higher education institutions and regional high schools to compete each spring from across Idaho and Washington State for over $44,000 in cash prizes.

The NEC believes that the more opportunities students have to receive real-life feedback (and win award money to support their business idea), the better. It’s why the NEC is a great addition to other school-based business plan and pitch competitions: more experience, more feedback, more funding opportunities for our region’s aspiring entrepreneurs.

The NEC is grateful to all the institutions that make our collaborative competition possible:
